Is there truly “JUSTICE FOR ALL?”

They say
if you see something, say something?
but where were the real eyes and ears when Trayvon Martin was shot?
In a quest for youthful gratification he was profiled and made a target
of hate from a molester who was too insecure in his skin
and too afraid of Trayvon's...

We have been told for a long time that we would be judged
not by our skin, but the content of our character
but we know our true worth in the eyes of some equals NONE
There is a rising bile in the throats of those who have
to swallow this bitter swill
that seems to spill copiously out of the mouths
of those who think Zimmerman was within his right
to leave a family bereft of a son or consolation
or an adequate defense...

Were the mothers on the jury so haughty to think a black life lost deserves a pass?
Emmett Till, James Taney, Yusef Hawkins and Michael Griffith
prove he never had a chance
Because in a world that is most definitely BLACK and WHITE
the light seems to shine differently when the threat is racially implied
I feel like a part of the Dream just died
Zimmerman, carrying a concealed weapon at the ready,
(I know this mofo must have been giddy)
as he continued to stalk someones child
is this what happens when vigilante justice goes wild?
his authority was not shoot and kill
but he had his own fucked up sense of justice to fulfill
profiling with no real tell
told to stand down but he thought "Oh well"
best judgement would have been to stay in his car
not rush to judge and fear a black manchild from afar
fearful of the yet unknown this wannabe captain of the watch
forgot to do just that, watch...

"Fall back and observe" the radio said
but Zimmerman had other voices in his head
thinking he was doing the neighborhood a service
all he did was make Trayvon nervous
And that's when all hell broke loose
and ultimately revealed that there is no love for black men
that is what a jury of all women says
who's empathy gave absolution to a killer
and demonized the child he killed

Now that the verdict's in
We are angry yet again
because we have seen this before
Not again, wtf?? are you sure?
another of our own has needlessly died
No justice for a child cut down in his prime
no chance for him to see Facebook one more time
no chance to have a family or any more fun
this verdict let's us know our time has come
thousands have already begun to protest
the seeds of disbelief are manifest
the winds of change have ceased to blow
the value of a black person's life is zero
and the stagnant air of stereotypic fear
makes me think the end is near...

What was just about an unarmed child being shot?
what kind of solace have his parents got?
I fear for the young black people who were killed before and yet to be
a jury of your peers when you're white makes you free
Our lives are integrated until we cross color lines
and realize that here we go again, one more time
feeling like killing anybody black is hardly ever a crime.
